We are pleased that this application was rejected by a special meeting of CWaC in Full Council on 3 October 2013. We hope that CWaC will not now let matters drift but will work together with Chester University and residents to formulate a policy to tackle the undoubted problems of student accommodation and the ‘studentification’ of inner city areas.

We are very disappointed to report that CWaC Strategic Planning Committee approved this application after only minor changes by the developer. Much of the ‘internationally significant’ (EH evaluation) leadworks will now be demolished and be replaced by crude, grey, metal-clad apartments.
